Our Poems and Reflections
Jack
By: Lauren Melchior There once was a fellow named Jack. He always went fast on the race track, but then on one day, he passed the milky way. Poor Jack will not be coming back. Going Fast By: Preston Lewis Racing very fast rivals trying to keep up finish line just ahead Deer Hunting Time Is Here Again By: Preston Lewis Deer hunting time is here again And many hunters take to the woods After months of planning with family and friends They gather in common brotherhood It's a freedom that fills the soul of a man With the peace of God's nature all around Lessons that have been taught since time began And lifelong memories and friendships are found Hunting is taught by tradition still yet Knowledge passed on from man to man And you'll learn things that you'll never forget And respect nature more, our wildlife, and our land So all you hunters enjoy this time May you be skilled and have lots of luck May God bless you as you hunt today And may you bag that ten point buck! ! Reflection: The meaning of this poem is that deer season is just about here and it talks about how that it is a tradition of teaching guys how to hunt. This is a free verse poem because it doesn't really have a specific rhyme scheme or meter. I like this poem because it relates to me a lot because i have been hunting since the age of five. This has been a way of life for my family for centuries. My great grandfather hunted in alaska and my grandfather hunted in colorado and now its my father and i carrying on hunting in kentucky so it has just been major in my family. My favorite time of the year is dear season and i can relate to respecting nature because when you spend a lot of time in the woods you get to see all aspects of life. “And may you bag that ten point buck! !” is mood because it shows that the author is happy about deer season. “Lessons that have been taught since time began” is alliteration because the t sound is repeated. |
Squirrels
By: Abby Kern There once was two grown squirrels, they both ended up with referrals. got into trouble had to report on the double because of getting into a quarrel. Crystal Stairs
BY: Lauren Melchior Crystal stairs, "Where will you lead, offering steps in our time of need... a luminous path from here it seems, a crystal spiral of lucid dreams?" Unlike crystallized memories destined never to grow; you call us toward a future beyond what we know. Like footsteps heard faintly in ones ear. A journey of remembering held so dear. Beyond imagination in a forgotten land, crystal climbers reach out with a loving hand. Lifting our hearts like magic it seems, this staircase of crystal truly is made of dreams. Reflection: This poem has the meaning of chasing your dreams. The poem wants you to ask yourself where your dreams will take you. It refers to your dreams as “crystal stairs”. The crystal staircase is the road that it takes for you to accomplish and to reach your dreams. It also talks about that our dreams will never go away because they will always be calling us to reach them. Overall this poem is about the journey it takes to reach our lifelong dreams and goals. I can relate to this poem because I have dreams that don't just happen overnight. As a matter of fact, I don't know anyone who doesn't have a dream. It talks about in order to achieve your goals. |
